Bollywood actress Sara Ali Khan was seen undertaking the Amarnath Yatra in Kashmir Himalayas on Thursday. A video on social media shows her along with some friends and security forces coming down the stairs at the Cave shrine of Amarnath.
The actress was wearing a grey trek suit and a “chunari” hanging from her neck. She was carrying a long stick in her right hand and her left hand was held by her friend.
Sara Ali Khan is a frequent visitor to Kashmir valley. She was last seen in Gulmarg during the winters with her brother Ibrahim Ali Khan. She also recently travelled to Pahalgam in south Kashmir, where she enjoyed trekking.
Last week, India’s top badminton player Saina Nehwal also undertook the Amarnath Yatra with her mother.
The Amarnath Yatra is a Hindu pilgrimage to the Amarnath cave shrine in Kashmir Himalayas. The cave is located at an altitude of 3,888 meters (12,756 feet) and is considered to be one of the holiest shrines in Hinduism.
The pilgrimage is usually undertaken in the summer months, from July to August. However, it can be undertaken at any time of year.
Sara Ali Khan’s decision to undertake the Amarnath Yatra is a sign of her respect for Hindu traditions. It is also a reflection of her love for Kashmir valley, which she has visited several times in the past.
