In Poonch, man hangs bird upside down, thrashes it with a stick for eating grains

In what could be called the highest form of animal cruelty, a man purportedly from Poonch was seen thrashing a bird and hanging it upside down by using a rope.
A video reportedly shot somewhere in Poonch district of Jammu shows a man in his 50’s beating a bird ruthlessly for eating some grains in his field.
The man can be heard abusing the bird and repeatedly using a stick to beat it.
After the video was widely circulated on social media, users urged the district administration to identify the man and the person who is shooting the video.
“They should be booked for this cruelty to a bird for just eating some grains in the field,” wrote a Facebook user.
Some users pointed out the metal stability of the man in the video, “Only an insane person would display such cruelty towards an animal” wrote another user, who wanted the locals to identify the person and hand him over to the police.
“Such animal cruelty videos are shot and circulated frequently on social media, I wonder why doesn’t Facebook disallow such videos to feature on its platforms. ” wrote Jibran, who urged animal rights activists to take cognizance of the matter.
“Facebook community guidlines gone for a toss, why are such videos allowed to feature on Facebook in the first place,” wrote another user.
It is pertinent to mention that the existing law stipulates a penalty between Rs 10 and Rs 50 for any act of cruelty such as beating, kicking, torturing, starving, overloading, overriding and mutilating an animal. It doesn’t have different categories of offences for cruelty.
