MeT predicts erratic weather conditions till Apr 28

Apr 17 (KNO): The upper reaches of Kashmir including Gulmarg, received fresh snowfall while the plains of the Valley received incessant rainfall on Saturday, the weather further brought down the mercury in the valley.
Meanwhile, authorities have also closed Bandipora—Gurez road following fresh snowfall at Razdan top in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district.
Reports reaching the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that Gulmarg, Gurez and other higher reaches in northern Kashmir have experienced fresh snowfall during the intervening night of Friday-Saturday.
In wake of the fresh snowfall, the authorities have ordered closure of Bandipora-Gurez road.
An official said that the road has been closed today morning after Razdan top along the road received atleast six inches of fresh snowfall.
Pertinently, the road was thrown open for one way traffic just a week ago after great efforts by the authorities.
Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department (MeT) has predicted moderate rainfall across Jammu and Kashmir till today late evening.
“There may be some occasional breaks in between and heavy rainfall at one or two places can’t be ruled out. Higher reaches may receive snowfall ranging between 1 inches and 1 ft,” an official in MeT said.
He said that another spell of rain is expected tomorrow, particularly towards afternoon and evening. “Possibility of a few more spells around 21-23 April and 26-28 April,” he added—(KNO)
