A young scientist hailing from South kashmir’s Pulwama district, Dr. Pervaiz Ahmad has featured in the list of “Highly Cited” researcher 2021 from Clarivate for Academia and Government.
Out of nearly 8 million researchers in the world, less than 1% have published multiple papers over the last decade that rank in the top 1% of citations for field and year. The list is revised every year in the month of November by Clarivate for Academia and Government in association with web of Science.
One such scientist is kashmir’s Dr. Parvaiz Ahmad from Degree College Pulwama. It is for the first time in the history of Kashmir, a scientist has been listed in top 1% scientists for his research papers and citations in the field of Plant Sciences.

The list describes the ranking of the researchers in the top 1% by citations for their particular research field. Among 8M researchers around the globe, less than 1% have published many papers over a decade and that rank in the top 1% of citations for a particular field and year is a great achievement for me and i am happy for it. I am thankful to my parents, friends and all those who supported me in helping me to reach upto this level.”
Hailing from Payar village of South kashmir’s Pulwama district, Dr. Pervaiz completed his Masters degree in Botany from Jamia Hamdard university New Delhi and pursued his Phd from the prestigious IIT Delhi and Post Doc Fellowship From ICGEB (International Concil For Genetic Engineering And Biotechnology).
Dr. Pervaiz has published 175 International Research papers (according to Web of Science).
Moreover, he has also Published 60 Book Chapters including 25 books with international publishers like Elsevier, Springer, John Wiley etc.
Talking about Scientific citations, he said that “he has more than 10000 citations to his credit, with h-index=55 and i10-index=180.
It is pertinent to mention that Dr. Pervaiz Ahmad was also enlisted in the top two percent scientists of 2020 by Standford University.
