SKUAST-K Students Aghast Over Preponement Of Semester Exams

Umran Hussain

Shocked with the decision of the Sher-e-Kashmir University Of Agricultural Sciences (SKUAST-K) to suddenly prepone the 3rd and 5th semester exams, the students of the varsity are worried over the lack of time for preparation.

Demanding a change in the University’s decision, which has come as a shock to the students, people from various sections on Twitter and other social media platforms are requesting the University authorities to withdraw the notification, and a revision in the exam schedule.

Issuing a notification, the University has mentioned that the 3rd and 5th semester examinations will be conducted from January 17 as against the earlier notified date of 24th January.

“We people took an off yesterday voluntarily, if we hadn’t done this we would still be taking classes. This is uncalled for, in a situation when goverment has already decided to close down educational institutions due to sudden spike in COVID-19 cases.” Said a student of the university wishing anonymity.

“It is not fair that our university is conducting offline exams as many of our students are outsiders, they have to come from there and we are not feeling safe as there is a big risk to our lives as COVID is on its peak and instead of showing some concern for our lives, they are putting us as well as our family members at risk, as after exams we have to live with our family members. ” Said another student while talking to The Kashmir Radar.

Another student said that if the university authorities find themselves in such a hurry then they should conduct the exams in online mode, as attending the university in in-person in the ravaging pandemic is nothing but a risk which we cannot afford.

“Clearly it can be observed that the decision has been taken to finish the work undermining the interests of students. Furthermore teachers told us that some of the syllabus would be covered after the vacations leave alone prepration we haven’t completed the syllabus yet, this is completely against the spirit of good education.” Said another student.
