Symptomatic patients should not rely on RTPCR negative report, HRCT scan must: Experts

As the COVID-19 second wave is sweeping several countries with India the most affected one, doctors are of the opinion that the new double mutant virus is found to have the capability of dodging even the RTPCR tests.
Experts warn that the affected patients who show symptoms should not rely on the negative report of RTPCR and should immediately go for a High Resolution Computed Tomography (HRCT) that provides the detailed image of the extent of damage done by the virus to the lungs of the patients.
Several patients who complained of high grade ever, body pain, breathing difficulty and other related symptoms have surprisingly tested negative on RTPCR.
When such patients were investigated by the High Resolution Computed Tomography, their lungs were damaged to a greater extent.
