Pakistan: Shehbaz Sharif elected new PM unopposed, to take oath tonight

Islamabad, Apr 11: Shehbaz Sharif, Pakistan opposition leader, elected new Prime Minister of the country.

The National Assembly session for the election of the new Prime Minister of Pakistan bagan this afternoon.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif was the joint opposition candidate for the top post.

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mahmood Qureshi was also in the fray for the prime ministerial post with his nomination papers approved on Sunday.
