Qari Aijaz Becomes The First Kashmiri To Participate In ‘Qur’an Reading Event’ In Iran

Qari Aijaz Hussain sofi, hailing from Mallabuchan magam area of kashmir, officially became the first person from Kashmir to participate in the internationally acclaimed ‘International Qirat Quran Compitition in Iran.
This year marked the 39th edition of the Qur’an recitation competition which saw hundreds of participants from all over the world competing for the first spot in the competition.
As soon as the News of his participation was announced by various social media handles, people all across the valley started praising his efforts and determination.
Participation of Aijaz is considered as a remarkable achievement for the Muslim fraternity in Kashmir and his relatives while hailing Aijazs’ skills to recite the Holy Qur’an said that he always wanted to make his motherland proud by proving his mettle on an international stage.
All You Need To Know About ‘International Qur’an Reading Event in Iran:
The Islamic Republic of Iran’s International Holy Quran Competition is the international Islamic Quran reading event that has been held annually since 1982 in Iran.
The program was started on 5 February 1982 and 12 countries, such as Malaysia, Bangladesh, India, Iraq, Syria, Guinea, Algeria and Libya took part in the competition. It was held in Hosseiniyeh Ershad, Tehran. The competition takes place each year, in the lunar month of Rajab, and is sponsored by the country’s Awqaf and Charity Affairs Organization.
For many years, this competition was held in Hosseiniyeh Ershad. The 2nd competition took place from 1 to 6 April 1983 and women, for the first time, participated in the competition.
Quran reciters and memorizers from various Muslim and non-Muslim countries attend the week-long international Quranic event.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raeisi was the distinguished guest at the Quranic event which kicked off on February 18.
A total of 52 participants from 33 countries took part in the final round of the event.
The competition of men’s categories was staged on February 19-21.
The women’s categories were held on February 19-20.
The categories include memorization, recitation and Tarteel for men and memorization and Tarteel for women.
