Consumers allege that mutton is still being sold at 600/KG

Srinagar: Even after the government recently fixed the rate of mutton at 535 per Kilogram, some customers alleged that mutton is being sold at 600 KG at various places.

A customer from Hazratbal complained that no body is selling mutton in our locality at the goverment fixed rates.

Several other complaints were received from different areas of the Srinagar city about the exorbitant rates of mutton.

Customers allege that mutton sellers openly flout the norms and sell the meat at the rates they wish to.

Goverment recently fixed the mutton rates at 535 after hectic negotiations with mutton dealers and later an order was issued by the goverment directing all mutton dealers to sell mutton 535 only.

Just after the direction was passed by the goverment several mutton sellers again starting selling the meat at previous rates and authorities were informed at various places following which various mutton shops were sealed.
