Earthquake of magnitude 5 hits Kashmir

An earthquake of magnitude 5 on the Richter scale hit Kashmir earlier this morning, but there were no reports of any loss of life or damage to property, officials said.

The epicentre of the quake, which occurred at 5.35 am, was at the Gorno Badakhshan, Tajikistan. Strong tremors were felt in Kashmir, causing panic among people.
