Gang of highway robbers busted by Srinagar police, toy guns recovered

Srinagar: Police Station Batmaloo on Friday morning apprehended a robber with fake gun and pouch. At around 0400 hours the robber along with his two associates stopped a truck on National Highway near Tengpora. Impersonating as militants, the robbers tried to extort money from the truck driver, However the truck driver kept the robbers engaged and succeeded in informing Police.

A party from the PS Batmaloo which was detailed for night patrolling rushed to the spot and apprehended one of the robbers on spot with the assistance of truck driver.

A case FIR No: 108/2020 u/s 387 IPC has been registered in the matter with PS Batmaloo.

The apprehended robber was identified as:

Imran Ahmad Shah

S/O Gh Mohd Shah

R/O Meganwaji Nowgam A/P Gangbugh Srinagar.

A Santro Car bearing registration No: DL2CAD-3169 used by the robbers was also seized from the spot. Two fake guns and one camouflage pouch was also recovered from their possession.

After Questioning, the accused revealed that he had two accomplices with him who happen to be his maternal Uncles namely:

Zamir Ahmad Shah @Zamir Pacha and

Javid Ahmad Shah

R/O Nowgam. Both Zamir and Javid are on run whose search is going on.
