Girl raped in a vehicle in South Kashmir, two arrested

Police on Tuesday said it has arrested two men accused of allegedly raping a girl, within half an hour after complaint was lodged, in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district.
In a statement to GNS, the police said that a girl (name withheld) approached Police Post Mir Bazar with a written complaint stating that she was wrongfully restrained and raped in a vehicle (truck) bearing registration number JK18-9100 on NHW at Nipora near Petrol pump.
The police said the girl identified the accused as Mudasir Ahmad Ganie son of Abdul Rashid Ganie resident of Banimulla and another person namely Manzoor Ahmad Naik son of Ghulam Mohd Naik resident of Gadool.
The police official further said that on receipt of the complaint, a case with FIR No. 111/2021 U/S 376, 109 IPC was registered in police station Qazigund and investigation was taken up in instant manner.
On a tip off, the police party from Police Post Mirbazar led by incharge Police post Mirbazar Sub Inspector Imtiyaz Ahmad under the supervision of SDPO Qazigund Govind Rattan-JKPS was constituted to nab the accused persons, he said.
Utilizing all available means and with strenuous efforts, investigating team arrested both the accused within half an hour after complaint was received in Police Post Mirbazar and the vehicle used in commission of crime was seized. Further investigation of the case is in progress, reads the statement.(GNS)
