Pulwama:Residents of Pulwama’s Newa village alleged that government forces ransacked property & beat civilians during the intervening night of October 17 and 18.
The villagers said that the government forces not only beat the inmates present in their houses but also fired a volley of bullets at the residential houses.
“We have been forced to migrate from this locality as the government forces have developed a habit of oppressing us. They come at night and beat the inmates while also destroying property for no reason whatsoever,” said a young girl Rehana (name changed on request) who also alleged harassment at the hands of the government forces.
Mohammad Shabaan (name changed on request), another resident said, “It seems the new Governor has been installed in the State for giving a free hand to the government forces to humiliate and threaten Kashmiris into submission. This is not Governor raaj, this is jungle raaj.”
When contacted by media persons, DC Pulwama said that the authorities are presently investigating the matter.
