A video shared by an online news portal “Kashmir Crown” wherein ADC Baramulla was seen thrashing people, didn’t go down well as people reacted with disapproval and negative reactions.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Baramulla Muhammad Ehsan was seen beating people with a stick to impose restrictions in view of rising COVID cases in Jammu and Kashmir.
In the begining of the video, people may have appreciated his efforts for being present in the market in person for imposition of strict lockdown in the district, but after thrashing a few men for venturing out in the market, he can be seen immediately rushing towards a woman and thrashed her too with the stick in his hand, though only once.
The women “inaudible” in the video can be seen pleading and apparently requesting him to let her go.
District Baramulla was in news yesterday as hundreds of people flouting COVID norms were seen flocking the market and long queues outside bank branches was also witnessed.
Taking cognizance of yesterdays issue, the additional deputy commissioner used all his men and material to impose severe restrictions in the district, a step appreciated by people but beating an elderly woman was not received well by the public though.
“How can he beat anyone. He can prosecute a person under section 188 of Indian penal code and under other relevant provisions of law for the violation of orders but he can’t beat anyone like this. Ignorance at its peak. Action must be taken against this bureaucrat.” Wrote Zakir Lone, a Facebook user while reacting to the video.
