Srinagar: A major fire broke out at Hotel Pamposh located on the Residency Road in Srinagar on Saturday.
Though the cause of fire was not immediately known, the blaze started on the top floor of the multi-storeyed Hotel which faces Jhelum on one end.
At least 25 fire tenders were engaged to douse the flames. The entire first floor of the eight-storey building was completely gutted in the massive blaze.
The building houses offices of some news channels and business establishments also.
Sharing more details, DC Srinagar while monitoring the fire-fighting operation said, “There are offices of several media houses here. At least 20-22 fire tenders, teams of fire and emergency services, disaster management official and the SDRF are at the spot.”
“There was no loss of life. People were evacuated safely. A member of the fire services was injured and sent to the hospital for treatment,” he said.
It took some time for the fire tenders to completely extinguish the blaze, he added.
