“We don’t do this here” Outrage against fashion show by local women

A Kashmir based social group; All JK Youth Society had organised a glamour packed mega fashion show at Tagore Hall in Srinagar yesterday, where dozens of youth participated as models, designers, dancers, rap artists and stand up comedians.

The show received severe backlash from the local citizens of Kashmir and a huge gathering of women took out a procession in Srinagar against the show.

“Such fashion shows are promoted to spread vulgarity in our younger generation which is against the basic ethos of Kashmir and Islam.” Said one of the protestor while talking to “The Kashmiyat”.

In the event local artists, Fashion Designers, Models showcase their talent. Ramp walk, Bollywood Dance, Rap Battle, Standup comedy were also shown on the floor.

President All JK Youth Society Sajid Yousuf earlier said that “this is the first ever fashion show where the models, designers were locals and the judges were celebrities from the Mumbai film industry”.

Vice president of this organisation, Yana Mir said “local talented youth are breaking all barriers of fear and social stigma and coming forward to showcase their talent to the world outside Kashmir, and the whole country is waiting with open arms to welcome Kashmiri artists, models and designers in the world of glamour”.
