Tarek Fatah took a cheap shot on Inzamam-ul-Haq but had to face the ire of cricket fans from both India and Pakistan.
Author Tarek Fateh is one of the staunchest critics of Pakistan. The author, who is a Canadian citizen, never misses a chance to take a shot at Pakistan. The author known for his strong opposition to radical Islam is quite popular in India among many people due to his views. However, Fateh’s recent shot at Pakistan seems to have backfired. Ahead of the high-voltage clash between India and Pakistan in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, he tried to mock the Pakistan cricket team using a picture featuring captain Sarfraz Ahmed and cheif selector Inzamam ul Haq. In his tweet, Fateh called Inzamam a ‘mullah’ who was called to inspect the pitch by Ahmed. While it is not clear whether Fateh actually did not recognize Inzmam or was mocking him nonetheless, many fans took expection to the tweet and hit back. They tried to ‘educate’ Fateh about Inzamam and how he was legend of the game. Most importantly most of these fans were Indian users who called out Fateh for ‘hatemongering’.
