Launching Ceremony of Activities under Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav at IM GDC Shopian

Shopian, June 17: The launching ceremony of the two-month long activities of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-Campaign, under the theme “Unity”, was held on 17th June 2023 in the Conference Hall of the Science block of our esteemed college.
The primary objective of the launching ceremony was to kickstart the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-Campaign, a nationwide initiative commemorating the 75th anniversary of India’s independence. The theme chosen for this campaign is “Unity,” aiming to promote the spirit of unity among the citizens and celebrate the diversity of our nation.
The launching ceremony was organised by the newly constituted committee to conduct these activities under the convenorship of Prof. Mahmood Ahmad Tak, Senior faculty member of the college and Head, Department of Botany.
The event began with a warm welcome extended by the committee, expressing gratitude to all attendees. The campaign was formally launched by the worthy Principal of the college, Prof. (Dr) Mohd. Shafiq. In his remarks, the Principal highlighted the significance of the campaign in fostering unity and patriotism and said that unity has always been and is the foundation of our nation’s progress and resilience.
A comprehensive speech was delivered by the convener Prof. Mahmood Ahmad Tak, in which the speaker emphasized the importance of unity in the progress and development of our nation. The speech aimed to ignite a sense of pride and responsibility among the students and attendees.
Introducing the theme of “Unity” for the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav-Campaign, the speaker said that this campaign calls upon us to reflect on the values that bind us as a nation, and to recognize the power of unity in shaping a brighter future for all.
It urges us to embrace inclusivity, to celebrate our differences, and to work together towards a prosperous and harmonious nation. The speaker then showcased the various activities and initiatives planned for the coming two months, encouraging active participation from the college community. A video, highlighting the role of some important freedom fighters from J&K, was also played during the event.
The event ended with a vote of thanks by Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad Tantray, member of the committee and Head Department of Urdu. The proceedings of the event were conducted by Prof. Mushtaq Ahmad Malik, member of the committee and Head Department of Political Science.
The event was attended by a good number of students and respected faculty members including Prof. Tariq Hussain Mir, Prof. Iftikar-un Nisa, Dr. Nisar Ahmad wani, Prof. Gulzar Ahmad Shergoojri, Prof. Tajamul Hussain, Prof. Sheeraz Gul, Prof. Sayar Yasin, Dr. Umar Farooq, Dr. Shaugufta Majeed, Dr. Showkat Ahmad Ganie and Prof. Mohd. Ishaq.
