Srinagar, February, 19: The Institution of Engineers (India), Jammu & Kashmir State Centre in collaboration with Mechanical Engineering Department, Kashmir conducted one day workshop on Mechanised Snow Clearance (Evolution, Process & Scope) in Auditorium of IEI J&K State Centre, Church Lane, Sonwarbagh, Srinagar.
Shri Shailendra Kumar (IAS), Principal Secretary to the Govt., Public Works Department inaugurated the workshop as the Chief Guest in virtual mode. Athar Aamir Khan, IAS, Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation and Abid Hussain, KAS, Additional Commissioner were the Guests of Honour on the occasion.
Besides them a huge number of Engineers and other dignitaries also participated which included Chief Engineers, Corporate Members of IEI, Students & Research Scholars.
Addressing the workshop through virtual mode, Shailendra Kumar (IAS), Principal Secretary to the Govt. Public Works Department appreciated the efforts of the organizers to hold workshop of such importance and appreciated Mechanical Engineering Department, Kashmir for executing a huge hectic task of snow clearance.
He also stressed that Mechanical Engineering needs to be properly utilized in all the sectors including hospital services for better public deliverance.
Dr. Raof Ahmad Khan (FIE), Chairman, IEI J&K State Centre, Srinagar welcomed all the guests, participants and speakers and assured that their prestigious Institution is committed to hold workshops, seminars and colloquiums which are beneficial to public in general and engineers in particular.
The Commissioner, Srinagar Municipal Corporation appraised about the snow clearance operations being conducted by his Department and stressed on effective use of all available resources for better pubic deliverance.
The program was coordinated by Er. Ferdous Ahad Bhat, Honorary Secretary IEI. Among others, Chief Engineer, PW (R&B) & Chief Engineer, PMGSY Kashmir also spoke on the occasion.
Er. Rashid Ahmad Dar, Chief Engineer, MED Kashmir, Er. Mir Tanveer, Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Er. Abdul Rashid Bhat (Executive Engineer Retd.), Er. Nadeem Akbar Najar, Mr. Mohammad Asif Khanday & Mr. Amaan Muhammad Qadri (IUST) were key resource persons on the occasion.
