DG CSIR visits Lavender farm Bonura Pulwama

Pulwama 11 July 2021: Director General CSIR Dr Shekhar C Mande along with Secretary Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, Ministry of Science and Technology, Govt of India visited Lavender farm Bonura Pulwama .

During the visit, Director interacted with SHG members of Block Pulwama & Tral who apprised him about various issues pertaining to cultivation and marketing of the crop.

He assured that an MOU will be signed with KVKs who will provide marketing support to SHG members in terms of well groomed purchasing potential players for extracted medicinal oil.


Director impressed upon the officers for the promotion and development of different types of floral species, herbs and shrubs for their multiplication on commercial lines to generate employment of the unemployed youth of the valley.


He further said that IIIM Bonura is going to provide orientation cum trainings and field visiting opportunities to identified SHG members who can start their own aroma enterprises.

While interacting with Farm In charge IIIM Bonura Dr sahid, assurance was provided distribution of Lavender and Rose Mary saplings among newly identified SHG members of Pulwama, Tral & Pampore in comming months.
