The Kashmir Radar: As soon as a social media handle run by a goverment school in Kashmir uploads a video featuring its teachers involved in an activity they learn to pass it on to the students, the K- internet without going into the details of the video and the benefits of the activity, start trolling the teachers and social media sees itself flooded with memes and jokes about teachers within no time.
In a very recent example two videos of “teacher training” took over internet and hundreds of memes were all over.
One video captioned as “Gehun Kis Nay Kaata” was the first one to receive heavy trolling by the netizens.
The activity in the video is actually a part of “creative teaching technique” under NIPUN Bharat Mission – National Initiative for Proficiency in Reading with Understanding and Numeracy, launched by the union education ministry under the Samagra Shiksha scheme (an overarching programme for the school education sector extending from preschool to class 12) aligned with NEP (National Education Policy.
The video was shot in a higher secondary school in Gool area of Ramban district.
Another video captioned as “Drink banana!” set fire on the internet in which some teachers in a chorus were seen reciting “banana, shake banana, drink banana.” which caught the eyes of the netizens and didn’t go down quite well too.
Undoubtedly, in this video certain mistakes could be pointed out, but didn’t deserve too much trolling to a level that certain teachers among the group had to come up with an explanation as to what the activity actually pertained to.
“Our performance is questioned even if we do our best in the school, the reason behind is the performance of a few goverment schools and I think it will take time to build the confidence of a level where people will start believing in us and we will no longer be questioned. There have been certain instances which have brought a very bad name to goverment schools. We need to work in silence and prove ourselves by producing the best results.” Said a goverment school teacher while talking to The Kashmir Radar.
“I don’t blame people for what they do to our videos on internet, I think there’s no need to upload everything on internet. Videos from classrooms or the activities done by goverment teachers should never be uploaded on social media. What is the need. We are in the department to prove our worth in teaching, not our video making capabilities and skills. We should rather work harder to prove the trolls wrong.” Said another goverment teacher wishing anonymity.
