Heavy snowfall warning issued for Jammu and Kashmir

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning for heavy snowfall in Jammu and Kashmir from February 17 to 21. The snowfall is expected to be widespread and moderate to intense, with the heaviest snowfall occurring over the Pirpanjal Range of Jammu Division and the higher reaches of Kashmir Division.

The IMD has warned that the snowfall could lead to disruption of surface and air transport, including the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway and other major roads. Travelers and tourists are advised to plan accordingly, and people in snow-bound areas are asked to avoid venturing into sloppy and avalanche-prone areas.

The snowfall is also expected to cause a significant fall in day temperatures. Farmers are advised to withhold irrigation, fertilizer and chemical spray activities during the snowfall period.

This is the first major snowfall warning of the season for Jammu and Kashmir. The IMD has advised people to stay up-to-date on the latest weather forecasts and warnings.
