IUST organized Cleanliness Drive Around Jhelum

Awantipora, December 9: IUST conducted a Cleanliness drive along the banks of the Jhelum river in Awantipora. The event was organized by the Dean of Students in collaboration with Municipal Committee of Awantipora, under the University Community Outreach Program.

Scores of students and staff members from IUST participated in the drive that was flagged off by Prof. Lily Want (Dean Outreach IUST) and Ms. Shamima Raina (President Municipal Committee Awantipora). Senior officials of the university including Mr. Sameer Wazir (Finance Officer), Dr. Asifa Baba (I/C Dean of Students), Dr. Munejah Khan (Dean SHSS), Dr. Iqbal Qureshi (Deputy Registrar Establishment), Dr. Andleeb (Coordinator MCSS), Dr Monisa Qadiri (Senior Assistant Professor Journalism and Mass Communication) Dr. Hilal A Rather from the Directorate of Physical Education IUST also participated in the program.

Speaking on this occasion, Dr. Asifa Baba, I/C Dean of Students IUST said that such events are aimed to create awareness amongst the people about the importance of cleanliness and protection of our environment.

Ms. Raina emphasized on the importance of environmental cleanliness for the overall development of the citizens in terms of health and well-being. She said that such drives help in cultivating a sense of urgency among the people towards environmental protection.
