Peerzada Muhammad Shafi, a politician from Kashmir who always sees himself in the headlines for one reason or the other once again overtook the internet when his recorded video call went viral on Friday evening.

Shafi, popularly known as Babber Sher in the video call, requests the President of BJP Jammu and Kashmir unit, Shri Ravinder Raina to accompany him to Delhi to get the three boys released who have been booked for sedition in Agra for raising pro Pakistan slogans after Pakistan won the T20 World cup match with India.

“I request you to accompany me, we will get the boys released from jail. They will apologise. I promise you, such mistake will never be repeated. Their parents are crying, even I cried after seeing the condition of their family members.” Said Peerzada Shafi to Ravinder Raina in the video call.

Ravinder Raina replies in a humble tone and at the face of it, it seemed even Raina wants the three boys back home and doesn’t want them to be in the jail.

The dedication of Shafi and humility of Ravinder Raina is perhaps the reason, people in Kashmir are seen sharing the video call with every one in their circle.

It is pertinent to mention that three Kashmiri students were arrested in Agra for allegedly raising pro-Pakistan slogans. On Thursday they were booked for sedition,
The three students, two of them aged 20 and one 21, were also remanded in 14-day judicial custody by an Agra court.

Meanwhile, a body of Jammu and Kashmir students urged Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath to withdraw the sedition charge against them. Adityanath earlier in the day had said the sedition law will be invoked against those celebrating Pakistan’s victory against India in the recent T20 World Cup match.

The three students were arrested on Wednesday after an FIR was lodged against them at the Jagdishpura police station. They were accused of raising pro-Pakistan slogans in the wake of an India-Pakistan T20 cricket match and posting celebratory messages on social media after Pakistan’s victory.
