Ganderbal: To give flip to sports culture in district, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ganderbal Shafqat Iqbal today distributed sports kits among 15 Government Higher Secondary Schools (GHSS) of district Ganderbal in a function held at Conference Hall, Mini Secretariat Ganderbal.
The sports kits were given by the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Ganderbal in collaboration with the District Administration with regard to culmination of ‘Sports for Peace and Development’ under Khelo India 2018-19 at all levels in district Ganderbal.
Congratulating the Department of Youth Services and Sports, Ganderbal for commendably culminating the ‘Khelo India 2018-19’ sports programme at all levels in district Ganderbal, the ADDC said that Sports is an extremely important component for the overall development of the individual that leads to an equally healthy society and strong nation. The importance of sports and fitness in one’s life is invaluable besides playing sports inculcates team spirit and develops strategic thinking, analytical thinking, goal setting, leadership skills and risk taking, he added.
Principal College of Physical Education Ganderbal, Hartej Singh, principals of GHSSs, physical education teachers of GHSSs besides other officials of the concerned department were also present on the occasion.
