DEO Ganderbal reviews election arrangements

Ganderbal: District Election Officer (DEO) Dr. Piyush Singla, today chaired a meeting to review the arrangements put in place for the smooth conduct of Municipal Elections in the district.

The meeting discussed threadbare all arrangements put in place, essential and integral measures taken and necessary precautions to be ensured during the electoral process.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal, SSP Ganderbal, Assistant Commissioner Development Ganderbal, Returning Officers, Assistant Returning Officers, Zonal Magistrates, Sector Magistrates, Zonal Police Officers, Sector Police Officers, Election Expenditure Monitoring Teams and other concerned officers.

The meeting discussed threadbare like manpower, training of polling staff, communication plan, transport plan, material arrangement, expenditure monitoring, EVM management, establishment of helpline and complaint redressal, besides law and order issues and duty of zonal and sectoral magistrates.

Dr. Singla directed the concerned Officers to remain vigilant and acquaint themselves with the knowledge, rules and regulations of election  commission of India. He directed them to work as a team for bridging the communication gap and to yield better results. He further stressed on adhering to the model code of conduct during election and added that Municipal Committee Ganderbal will go to poll on 16 October.

The meeting also inquired about the status of polling stations and it was informed that most of polling stations have adequate basic facilities.

The DEO said that every official concerned with the elections shall endeavor to facilitate the participation of the people particularly youth and ensure enabling environment towards strengthening grass-roots democratic institutions.

SSP Ganderbal also directed the officers to adhere their duties and sought cooperation from the officers entrusted with poll duties   for smooth conduct of polls. He laid stress on maintaining law and order as it is precursor for free, fair and transparent election.
