Youth Critically Injured in Assault During Cricket Match In Pulwama

An 18-year-old youth, Faizaan Qayoom Bhat, from Ratnipora village in Pulwama, is fighting for his life at SKIMS hospital after being brutally assaulted with a wooden rod during a cricket match in Lajura. The incident occurred when a dispute erupted between players from Puchal and Ratnipora teams over a player’s residence.

Witnesses reported that Younis Sheikh, a 45-year-old man from Puchal village, attacked Faizaan with a wooden rod, causing severe head injuries. Faizaan was initially taken to District Hospital Pulwama and later referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment.

Doctors at SKIMS confirmed that Faizaan suffered trauma to his head due to the assault. His family and teammates have filed a complaint with the Pulwama police, demanding strict action against the culprit.

Police officials have initiated an investigation into the incident and assured prompt action against Sheikh Younis. Faizaan’s teammates and family are urging authorities to take swift and severe action against the perpetrator, citing the gravity of the situation.

Mir Ubaid, Faizaan’s teammate, emphasized, “This heinous act must be met with the full force of the law. Sheikh Younis should be arrested and held accountable for his actions without any delay.”
