India Vs Pakistan: Heavy rain and thunderstorm predicted on the reserve day

IND vs PAK Colombo Weather Report: India and Pakistan will resume their rain-hit Asia Cup clash on Monday with India at 147-2 from 24.1 overs.

Asia Cup 2023, India vs Pakistan Weather Today: With heavy rains and thunderstorms predicted for the whole of Monday evening, India vs Pakistan Super 4 fixture of the Asia Cup continues to be on the mercy of rain gods.

After heavy rain and wet outfield took the match to the reserve day on Monday, the conditions haven’t improved much as Colombo witnessed showers through the night as it continues to be gloomy.

Although there is no chance of rain till 4 pm, from there on the situation looks very grim. With humidity also expected to be over 90 percentage, there are more chances of rain than Sunday.

India will be resuming their innings from 147/2 in 24.1 overs and in case of a washout will have to settle for a point. It means, India will have to beat Sri Lanka and Bangladesh to make it to the final.

The former already has pocketed a win and so is Pakistan. If India’s match against Sri Lanka also is washed out, then it would put them in a precarious position and would need help from other matches.

It is not clear at this stage whether India will start losing overs if the play doesn’t resume at 3 pm. A reserve day was not originally part of the schedule and was included after the previous group stage match between India and Pakistan in Palleleke was washed out the previous weekend after the completion of one innings.

With the match heading into the reserve day, should a 50-over game be completed on Monday, it will make things difficult for India. Rohit Sharma & Co are scheduled to take on Sri Lanka in their second Super 4 match on Tuesday and in case they play a full 50-over contest, their bowlers will have very little time to recover.

Jasprit Bumrah is coming after a long injury lay-off and playing back-to-back matches in these conditions could be exhausting, particularly if the rain stays away.
