Drug peddler’s property seized in Pulwama: Police

Pulwama: In a significant move to combat menace of drug trafficking from society, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Monday attached a single-storey, under-construction house of a notorious drug peddler from Jindwal village of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district.

The property attached under NDPS Act 1985 was owned by Zahoor Ahmad Wani, a notorious drug pedlar from Jindwal village of Pulwama.

Talking to media, Senior Superintendent of Police ( SSP) Pulwama, Mohammad Yousuf, said that on Monday police station Rajpora identified property of a notorious drug peddler from Pulwama.

He said that the property was acquired from earnings from illicit drug business.
“ The property has been legally attached,” he said, adding that this was first of its kind action in this Southern district.

He said that more actions of similar will be taken within next fortnight.

The SSP revealed that during the current year 6 notorious peddlers have been booked under NDPS Act and FIR’s were registered against 129 persons from whom various contraband and drug substances were recovered.

He said that Pulwama police has adopted zero tolerance towards drug trafficking and action will be taken against those who have raised property from the illicit drug business.

He also sought cooperation from sections of society in the fight against drug menace.
