Zaira Waseem who made her Bollywood debut at the age of 16 with Aamir Khan-starrer Dangal, shuts down a troll, ‘Azzat Alsaleem’ on Twitter, when the later tried to make fun of a woman eating while her hijab is still on, with a caption, “is this a choice of a human being.”

Zaira Waseem’s apt reply to the troll left everyone including Azzat speechless, with hundreds of Twitter users supporting and appreciating the reply to the troll by Zaira Waseem.

“Just attended a wedding. Ate exactly like this. Purely my choice. Even when everyone around me kept nagging me that I take my niqab off. I didn’t. We don’t do it for you. Deal with it.” Replied Zaira Waseem.

With more than 1.2 million verified views on Twitter, Zaira’s reply to the troll is a much needed defence at a time, when islamophobia has engulfed the young brains all across the world.

Hijab controversy finds its place in Twitter trends on and off, with people calling it regressive and anti-women, and some countries even banning women from wearing it, but Muslim women are fighting tooth and nail to preserve this obligatory practice by posting their pictures in hijab on Twitter and calling it ‘purely their choice’.

It may be recalled here that Wasim quit acting as a profession after featuring in at least three successful films that included Dangal, Secret Superstar and The Sky is Pink. She ended her Bollywood career saying it was at odds with her faith.

On 30 June 2019, she posted a long post on her Instagram account, declaring her retirement from the Bollywood film industry. She said she has decided that her profession would distance her from Allah and Islam.
