IM-GDC Shopian Organized District Level Painting Competition

June 13, Shopian: The Literary Activities Committee of Government Degree College Shopian organized a District Level Painting Competition today on 13-06-2023 under the aegis of The Vitasta Festival as part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav Celebrations. A sizeable number of students from various colleges of the district participated in the event. The suggestive themes for the painting competition were:-

• River vitasta “currently known as Jhelum” and its import on the Social, Political, Cultural heritage of Kashmir.

• The ever flowing legacy of Kashmir.

• The life-giving nature of the river.

The programme started at 11:30 am with a brief overview about the theme and guidelines to the participating students by Convener of the committee, Prof. Muhammad Nayeemur Rehman. Prof. Mahmood Ahmad Tak welcomed the participants formally and shared expert advice with the students.

The students were allotted one and a half hour’s time to try their hand and portray their ideas. To ensure fair evaluation of paintings, services of three officials from School Education Department were utilized as jury.

The painting of Insha Shafi Khan from GDC Shopian was adjudged the best followed by paintings of Nargis Salam and Ishtiyaq Gulzar from the same college, all students of BG 2nd semester.

The first three winners were awarded appreciation certificates and recommended for participating in the upcoming UT Level Competition. In his brief address,Principal, Mohd Shafiq expressed love for the hard work of the participants and exhilarated them to work harder in studies and co-curricular activities.

The event concluded on a high note, with participants expressing their gratitude for the opportunity to showcase their skills.
The proceedings culminated with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Sheikh Idris Ahmad, Dept. of Islamic Studies, expressing gratitude to all the stakeholders who played active role to make the programme successful.
